Goody Giveaway!

So, Krissi's pal, fellow sewing enthusiast, artist, makeup fiend and general cool chick, Mo "Miss Awesome" Love over at Madd Style Designs has been coming up with all kinds of lip treats over the past few months and Krissi (a self-confessed lip balm addict) has collected most of Mo's Hard Core Lip Bombs, which come in all kinds of flavors, from cotton candy to spicy chai and from grape soda to margaritas!

Now Mo is crafting up "Tainted Lip Bombs" with tints inspired by and named after the artists, crafters and characters with whom she collaborates.   (Oh, and speaking of collaboration, there will be an announcement of some group-type evil-making involving glitter very, very soon, so stay tuned).  Because not everyone wants color in their lip product, every one of these flavors also comes in an untinted version.

Mo's first tinted Lip Bomb was made as an homage to Cherry West of Sweets N Stuff (and this fabulous lipstick red beauty has already made it into a few Etsy treasuries!)

Pink Poison in action!
Then, a week or so back, two of Madd Style's coveted "Lip Bombz" were introduced with a Skelekitty theme - how exciting!  As with the cherry flavored Sweets N Stuff / Cherry Bomb duo, you have the choice between a tinted and an untinted version of this watermelon flavored tasty treat.  Pink Poison Tainted Lip Bomb (named after the Skelekitty skull/crossbones painting featured on most of my pages), has a soft pink tint and shimmer that will make you look as pretty as a picture and the untinted "Skelekitty" Hard Core Lip Bomb is packed with so much shimmer and sparkle it should be illegal.
Want more proof that you NEED a Skelekitty
Hard Core Lip Bombz?  How 'bout this?

Well thrill of thrills, I managed to get my little skelepaws on an extra one of the untinted, super shimmery, sparkly "Skelekitty" Hard Core Lip Bombz so I could give it away randomly to one of our fans!   It's super easy to enter.*
  1. Become a follower of this blog and of Mo's Madd Style blog
  2. Leave a comment** on this original post (on skelekitty.blogspot.com) telling Mo and Krissi why you'd like this lip balm (again, winner will be chosen by random).

Our winner will be chosen from qualifying entries on Thursday, July 15th at 2pm PST.  Good luck everyone!

Oh, and you KNOW Mo's stuff gets one of these, right?

*  pssst!  Don't have a blogger account?  Don't worry!  You can also enter on Facebook.
**thanks to bad people who spam, all comments must be approved by Krissi - don't worry, yours will show up!.

Last Skelekitty Stamp of Approval of 2009

Anything I say about my final SKSoA recipient of the year will only dilute her awesomeness, so just check her out the super cute, Jack Russell Terror loving, pink wearing, B-Movie watching, tiki cocktail drinking, subversive embroidering, retro, craftiness of Pam Pedersen yourself.

You will SO thank me!

Friend Prices on Rubber Stamps

Yep, I've completely lost my little kitty mind.

I think that these little red rubber babies will make SUCH great stocking stuffers** that I'm offering "Friend Prices" to everyone on the Skelekitty rubber stamps in stock.  "Friend Prices" means you get 20% off  every single stamp you purchase before midnight on Friday (Krissi usually only offers 10% off when you purchase 4 or more - shhh!  Don't tell!).

Our cyber Monday 20% off deal has also been extended through Friday or until the stamps are gone (and the stock is runnin' mighty low, too)!

Just use coupon code "CYBER09" at checkout, and enjoy your new stamps.

Oh, and don't forget about the Buy-One, Get-One deals on all of my prints through the end of the year!  They're selling like hotcakes, so get 'em while the gettin's good!

** And no, you don't have to give them away - keep them for yourself and make your own unique holiday gift tags!

WIN!

Want to know what success is?  It's when someone you know dresses up as you for Halloween!  Our neighbor 'Tana made her very own Skelekitty costume this year, with a skelanimals hat and the help of her mom in the makeup department.

Of course you KNOW this earns her a most sincere SKSoA!  Ya hear that 'Tana?  You have Skelekitty Stamp of Approval bragging rights!

I wonder if there are more SK inspired costumes to come next year.  Oh, and I'm still waiting to see that first Skelekitty tattoo (though Santana isn't allowed to get one for at least another 7 years).

Too many prints!

That's right kids. Krissi and I have some "extra" prints on hand here at La Casa de Kitty and we just hate to see 'em sitting around without anywhere to be this close to the most skellified holidays of the year!

Therefore, if you buy ANY print from my Artfire store today or tomorrow, you can choose a free print from this pile! Just use the coupon code PRINT2FER at checkout and you'll have two skellicious prints in time to add to your All Hallow's Eve decor or to place on your Dia de los Muertos shrine!

No kidding though - the coupon expires at the end of the day on Saturday!

My First Fan Art!

A long-time friend of Krissi's, Denise, who is a fan of both LOST and Skelekitty (that would be me), suggested mixing together images from the show and of me for her next piece of art. Well before even a sketch could be done over here, look what Denise e-mailed us!

Hmmmm....  I wonder what kind of goings-on would happen at The Dharma Initiative's "Skelekitty Station."

This first piece of Skelekitty fan art DEFINITELY earns Denise a Skelekitty Stamp of Approval.

Now I'm just waiting for that first Skelekitty fan tattoo!

New SKSoA Recipient: Oblinaknit!

I became aware of Oblinaknit during late April when Krissi started participating in the facebook DaVinci Mode 30-day creative challenge (thank you Stacy McQueen, THE Craft Whore for starting that challenge!).

Amy's creativity is seemingly unending - she knits, creates beautiful jewelry, sews adorable wristlet pouches and is just a darn funny and mighty supportive chica. Oh, and she loves cats - which is reason enough to award her the coveted (not really) Skelekitty Stamp o' Approval!

I hope you'll check out the various places on the interwebs where you can find Amy, her kitties and her creations.

New SKSoA Recipients!

Every now and then while I'm perusing the interwebs, something sparkly catches my little Skelekitty-eye and I purr with delight. Whenever this happens, I try to give recognition in the form of a link to said shiny thing and award the creator with the Skelekitty Stamp of Approval. Any blog or company who receives this ... err ... "award" is entitled to add the stamp to their website and they are added to my list of favorite sites.(actual cash value of SKSoA equal to less than 1/100th of a cent).

Today's inductees include Patrick Murillo, someone whose Day of the Dead paintings I've long admired and whom I was able to meet about a year ago. Since then, I am (and Krissi is too) proud to have him listed among our friends. Patrick just started an awesome new site called Mantastic Crafts which he describes as McGuyer-meets-Batman-meets-Survivor Man with a shot of Inspector Gadget. And yeah, even Gilligan pops up every now and then. Be sure to link over and bookmark it!

I was looking through my links to make sure my favorites were listed and realized today that, while I awarded an SKSoA to the Santa Clarita Craft Lab recently, I hadn't added them to my list. BAD KITTY! I'm fixing that today.

So, what I'm saying is .... stalk my friends (but do it nicely).

Skele-rubs,

SK

SK at the Santa Clarita Craft Lab Marketplace!

Sorry it's been so long since I blogged.

As you know, Krissi took me along with her on the 2009 Crafty Chica creativity cruise and we had a blast! She officially sold out of the supply of rubber stamps she had featuring yours truly, so I'm hoping she'll be reordering soon.... She also premiered her new line of Loteria cards (embellished with glitter and plain), which were a HUGE hit!
hand-embellished cards

After the cruise, we stayed three extra days in beautiful San Diego with Fearless and Shuka and their people, Alisa and Ann, where, thanks mostly to the prodding of Ann and Alisa, Krissi pimped out my stamps to a few cool scrapbooking stores. She even carried on with the retail store pimpage once she got home, and we shall see what comes of it....

Then just the other day, she heard from our pal Cyndi of the Santa Clarita Craft Lab asking about carrying the Skelekitty stamps in her new "Market Place!" She wants to start bringing in some unique kits and supplies from indie crafters (no finished projects at this point) and I jumped all over it like ... well, like a skelecat on a skelemouse! Besides, we certainly fit the bill - you don't get much more "indie" than a girl with a sewing machine, a laptop and a skeleton cat.

For those of you who don't know about the Santa Clarita Craft Lab, it's an AWESOME place! They offer some fun mixed media classes that you just can't really find anywhere else. Take, for example, this class on embellishments called Counting Crows:

All of the classes there are taught by seriously creative and fun folks and it's amazing to see what the students create. Check out their current classes here.

So maybe you aren't into group classes and just need some time away from the house? You can rent some space and craft a Wednesday or Thursday away for only $15 (and that includes use of their ample collection of tools)! Here's a sampling of just some of what they have on hand:

  • Cricut Expression Die Cut Machine
  • Cuttlebug Die Cut Machine
  • Sizzix Sidekick Die Cut Machine
  • An Assortment of Dies
  • 2 Sewing Machines
  • Sewing Notions, Iron & Board
  • Pasta Machine
  • PolyClay/Craft Oven & Tools
  • Xyron Sticker Maker
  • Zutter "Bind-It-All" Binding System
  • Heat Gun, Glue Guns, Fiskar Hand Drill
  • Woodburning Tool
  • Soldering Tools & Temp Control
  • Paper Trimmers with Designer Blades
  • An Assortment of Other Hand Held Tools
  • Assortment of Punches
  • The "Power Punch" Tool
  • PLUS adhesives, papers, doo dads, embellishments, buttons, brads, eyelets, beads, ribbons, fibers, yarns, lace, trims, card stock, rubber stamps, inks, paints, brushes, & more!
In addition to all the cool toys ... err, I mean TOOLS, they also have a knitting/crochet lounge. DUDE, SERIOUSLY! A KNITTING/CROCHET LOUNGE!

Just look at all that hot pink.... Yummy.

Here's another idea: why not let Santa Clarita Craft Lab host your next birthday, mothers' (or fathers') day, graduation or office party? You bring the cake and the guests, and they take care of the private studio space & instruction, all crafting supplies, plates/forks/napkins, and soft drinks/juice/water.

If you're like me and live too far away for a regular visit, you can drop by the official blog and keep up to date on all the crafty news that's fit to print.

Of course, I'll let you know the very SECOND that Cyndi has the shelves stocked with the red rubber representations of my cute image. Until then, stay cool and skele-crafty!

SK

Oh, and YES, Cyndi and the Santa Clarita Craft Lab have DEFINITELY earned a Skelekitty Stamp of Approval for this one!

Skelekitty Altered Domino Necklaces For Everyone

Howdy skelecats and skelekittens. Remember my recent post about the way cool altered domino necklace with my puss stamped on it that Krissi received from her pal Bekah?
Krissi & Bekah

Krissi's been wearing it just about everywhere and receiving tons o' compliments. Not only are folks admiring it, they're asking where they can get one of their own. Not wanting to disappoint, Bekah immediately whipped up about twenty more (with my skele-blessing in the form of a handshake license) and is in the process of listing them in her Etsy shop, Under The Tuscan Zen (it's free to shop!).  As of this writing, four of the pieces below are listed, but the rest will be up soon.

Prices range from $30 to just over $40, depending on whether you choose a hand-beaded necklace or a ribbon pendant.  All pieces are hand stamped, colored using high quality paints and inks and then sealed. I also happen to know that she will happily accept custom orders, so if you want the stamp from one necklace, with the colors from another and you want it with a pin-back, all you have to do is ask!

While you're over there, be sure to check out some of Bekah's other awesome pieces featuring hand stamped dominos, dichroic glass beads and wire work.

Look What She Made!

Krissi's pal and cohort in mixed-media madness, art and crafting, Bekah, presented her with this AWESOMELY CUTE domino pendant yesterday after a monthly artists' group meeting.
custom skelekitty domino pendant by Bekah

She made it using one of the Skelekitty (that's me) rubber art stamps, a domino and some seriously mad skills.  Here, take a closer look:

And here's a pic of Krissi looking absolutely goofy wearing it:

(Thanks for taking that photo yesterday, Yoli!)

For those of you dying to see the rest of Bekah's work, rest assured that she IS opening an etsy shop as we speak and the link will be posted here just about any minute. Bekah and her project DEFINITELY earned a "Skelekitty Stamp -o- Approval."

So what have YOU made using your Skelekitty stamps, Hmmmmm?  Send me your photos or a link to your blog post detailing your project, and I'll post about it here!

ArtsyGringa: Simple Shrine Frame Tutorial

Michele, a fellow crafty gringa, just started a blog-o-tutorials this (well last) month. She may be new to blogging, but she's a pro at the mixed-media folk arts!

Be sure to check out her "Simple Shrine Frame Tutorial" in plenty of time for you to take advantage of the techniques before Dia de los Muertos! She shows you how to make the perfect little nicho for your own Day of the Dead creations!
Just add a muertito (Of course, I don't have to tell you that mine will have a certain kitty in it).

She even inspires us all with her finished creations:
Have fun my little craftitas!

Wouldn't you agree that she's DEFINITELY earned a Skelekitty Stamp of Approval for her blog?

New Awesome Site for Mixed-Media Addicts

I just found this wonderful site featuring weekly challenges by guest artists from around the world: MIXED-MEDIA MONDAY - the newest recipient of the SKSoA! This week's challenge is a fun one by Joan from Italy - you've heard of "inchies" and "twinchies," but now we have an official challenge to make a "thrinchie" (whichas you might imagine, is 3"x3" artwork).

Want to participate? Here's an explanation right from the source:

How to Participate
Create your mixed media piece, according to the current theme and upload it to your blog, or picture trail etc., then add a link to Mixed Media Monday. Then post a comment on Mixed Media Monday with a direct link to your artwork.

You all know I'm a kitty who craves a challenge, so I'm thrilled to get my paws on this site. Thanks so much for the lovely and talented Collage Contessa, who linked to this and led to my discovery!

Blogs that make me go PURRRRRRR

Readers of my Mom's blog will know that I've been busy creating a list of my favorite crafty & artsy bloggers, and I'm awarding the "Skelekitty Stamp of Approval" to bloggers who are super creative and inspirational (tutorials are like catnip to me).

When you're cruisin' the web, check these folks out. You'll be SO glad you did! Also, if I'm missing a GREAT blog, please nominate them for the SK SoA! If you're listed, ask me how you can put my "stamp" on your site.

Love & bones, SK
p.s. I've added quite a few more since this list was created - be sure to check ALL of them out!
