Kitty Paintings on SALE and T-Shirt Announcement

Personally, I think Krissi has lost her mind.  Maybe it's just the fumes from the spray-fixative, but she has reduced the price of every single mixed-media painting in her shop.  I'm not kidding, even the larger paintings of ME, and she never puts these on sale!

Now she's telling me that she's STILL giving a free print with each of these pieces too!  *sigh*  Whatever.  I suppose if she wants to give away the store, I'm no-one to stand in the way.

Siren Song NOW ONLY $114.49
11x14x.75" pyrography, acrylic and mixed-media on cradled hardwood artist panel
price reduced by $50 (was $164.49)
"Siren Song" FINISHED!
The 3/4" thick edges are painted gold and have lines from Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem "The Mermaid" transferred on them: "And if I should carol aloud, from aloft / All things that are forked, and horned, and soft / Would lean out from the hollow sphere of the sea, / All looking down for the love of me"
Sides of "Siren Song"

And these pieces spent the month of December in The Claude Gallery in New York! How exciting!

The Two Sides of Skelekitty NOW ONLY $224.49 for the pair
11x14x.75" pyrography, acrylic and mixed-media on cradled hardwood artist panels
price reduced by $75 (was $299.49) & you get 2 free prints
The Two Sides of Skelekitty (set)

The "angel" painting features images of stars & winged locks, and the swirling clouds and her wings are highlighted with ultra-fine archival iridescent art glitter. The "devil" painting has images of keys rising in the hellfire, which has been detailed with three colors (yellow, orange and red) of ultra-fine archival art glitter.

Now, at long last, we have enough kibble stashed away in the piggy bank to begin the great T-shirt adventure!
First Skelekitty T-Shirt (mock up)
Krissi just needs to pull together the art and get worked into the schedule of the local artist/musician who will be burning the screens and making the shirts.  We should have pre-orders up in our shop within a week for those who want to be sure to get the size they want.  Keep an eye out for announcements!

What's Your Poison?

I'm not really into licensing out my little kitty face that much, not because I don't want to ('cause we know how self-centered I am - I'm a CAT after all!), but because the "big" thing hasn't really come along yet. However, I do like to get involved with the handmade community whenever I can - hence the licensing of my cute little mug to Stampa Fe for rubber stamps. But did you know that I also have agreements in place with a few of my favorite artists, allowing them to make and sell official Skelekitty merchandise? Yep. It is the truth.

I'm very excited to tell you about a brand spanking new joint venture with the lovely and gifted Kit Cameo, blogger, writer, cat-lover, geekery aficionado artist and friend.

kitcameo-bannershort

We've collaborated on a project / product that involves this image of me, some bar ware and Kit's not inconsiderable gift for etching, all of which resulted in "Skelekitty Poison Shot Glasses."

Guess Who? (sneak peek!)

Now you can "name your poison" and drink it too (silly kitty).

Skelekitty shot glasses by KIT CAMEO!

7/30/09 - UPDATE!! Well, the first two etched shot glasses have been sold! However, if you're dying to have one (or more), contact Kit.  You should also check out her other wares in her ArtFire studio and Etsy shop.

SK at the Santa Clarita Craft Lab Marketplace!

Sorry it's been so long since I blogged.

As you know, Krissi took me along with her on the 2009 Crafty Chica creativity cruise and we had a blast! She officially sold out of the supply of rubber stamps she had featuring yours truly, so I'm hoping she'll be reordering soon.... She also premiered her new line of Loteria cards (embellished with glitter and plain), which were a HUGE hit!
hand-embellished cards

After the cruise, we stayed three extra days in beautiful San Diego with Fearless and Shuka and their people, Alisa and Ann, where, thanks mostly to the prodding of Ann and Alisa, Krissi pimped out my stamps to a few cool scrapbooking stores. She even carried on with the retail store pimpage once she got home, and we shall see what comes of it....

Then just the other day, she heard from our pal Cyndi of the Santa Clarita Craft Lab asking about carrying the Skelekitty stamps in her new "Market Place!" She wants to start bringing in some unique kits and supplies from indie crafters (no finished projects at this point) and I jumped all over it like ... well, like a skelecat on a skelemouse! Besides, we certainly fit the bill - you don't get much more "indie" than a girl with a sewing machine, a laptop and a skeleton cat.

For those of you who don't know about the Santa Clarita Craft Lab, it's an AWESOME place! They offer some fun mixed media classes that you just can't really find anywhere else. Take, for example, this class on embellishments called Counting Crows:

All of the classes there are taught by seriously creative and fun folks and it's amazing to see what the students create. Check out their current classes here.

So maybe you aren't into group classes and just need some time away from the house? You can rent some space and craft a Wednesday or Thursday away for only $15 (and that includes use of their ample collection of tools)! Here's a sampling of just some of what they have on hand:

  • Cricut Expression Die Cut Machine
  • Cuttlebug Die Cut Machine
  • Sizzix Sidekick Die Cut Machine
  • An Assortment of Dies
  • 2 Sewing Machines
  • Sewing Notions, Iron & Board
  • Pasta Machine
  • PolyClay/Craft Oven & Tools
  • Xyron Sticker Maker
  • Zutter "Bind-It-All" Binding System
  • Heat Gun, Glue Guns, Fiskar Hand Drill
  • Woodburning Tool
  • Soldering Tools & Temp Control
  • Paper Trimmers with Designer Blades
  • An Assortment of Other Hand Held Tools
  • Assortment of Punches
  • The "Power Punch" Tool
  • PLUS adhesives, papers, doo dads, embellishments, buttons, brads, eyelets, beads, ribbons, fibers, yarns, lace, trims, card stock, rubber stamps, inks, paints, brushes, & more!
In addition to all the cool toys ... err, I mean TOOLS, they also have a knitting/crochet lounge. DUDE, SERIOUSLY! A KNITTING/CROCHET LOUNGE!

Just look at all that hot pink.... Yummy.

Here's another idea: why not let Santa Clarita Craft Lab host your next birthday, mothers' (or fathers') day, graduation or office party? You bring the cake and the guests, and they take care of the private studio space & instruction, all crafting supplies, plates/forks/napkins, and soft drinks/juice/water.

If you're like me and live too far away for a regular visit, you can drop by the official blog and keep up to date on all the crafty news that's fit to print.

Of course, I'll let you know the very SECOND that Cyndi has the shelves stocked with the red rubber representations of my cute image. Until then, stay cool and skele-crafty!

SK

Oh, and YES, Cyndi and the Santa Clarita Craft Lab have DEFINITELY earned a Skelekitty Stamp of Approval for this one!

Skelekitty Altered Domino Necklaces For Everyone

Howdy skelecats and skelekittens. Remember my recent post about the way cool altered domino necklace with my puss stamped on it that Krissi received from her pal Bekah?
Krissi & Bekah

Krissi's been wearing it just about everywhere and receiving tons o' compliments. Not only are folks admiring it, they're asking where they can get one of their own. Not wanting to disappoint, Bekah immediately whipped up about twenty more (with my skele-blessing in the form of a handshake license) and is in the process of listing them in her Etsy shop, Under The Tuscan Zen (it's free to shop!).  As of this writing, four of the pieces below are listed, but the rest will be up soon.

Prices range from $30 to just over $40, depending on whether you choose a hand-beaded necklace or a ribbon pendant.  All pieces are hand stamped, colored using high quality paints and inks and then sealed. I also happen to know that she will happily accept custom orders, so if you want the stamp from one necklace, with the colors from another and you want it with a pin-back, all you have to do is ask!

While you're over there, be sure to check out some of Bekah's other awesome pieces featuring hand stamped dominos, dichroic glass beads and wire work.

Look What She Made!

Krissi's pal and cohort in mixed-media madness, art and crafting, Bekah, presented her with this AWESOMELY CUTE domino pendant yesterday after a monthly artists' group meeting.

She made it using one of the Skelekitty (that's me) rubber art stamps, a domino and some seriously mad skills.  Here, take a closer look:

And here's a pic of Krissi looking absolutely goofy wearing it:

(Thanks for taking that photo yesterday, Yoli!)

For those of you dying to see the rest of Bekah's work, rest assured that she IS opening an etsy shop as we speak and the link will be posted here just about any minute. Bekah and her project DEFINITELY earned a "Skelekitty Stamp -o- Approval."

So what have YOU made using your Skelekitty stamps, Hmmmmm?  Send me your photos or a link to your blog post detailing your project, and I'll post about it here!

Stamps in Stock and a new Print

The initial order of Skelekitty rubber stamps arrived from Santa Fe yesterday and are available for purchase on Krissi's Etsy site at $14.00 each or a set of all 4 for $50. If you don't have an Etsy account (it's free to join and shop, so you should!), just e-mail Krissi and tell her which and how many stamps you would like to order and she'll send you an invoice, easy as pie.

She has also created a new print and made it available on Etsy. It's the angel-kitten from her original mixed-media piece, Love Cats in an 8x10" (well, 10x8" really) print.

She looks a little like me, just with wings and fur.  The print is only $15 (plus CA tax if you're a resident). She's a perfect holiday gift. Not "into" kitties (GASP!)? There are several other works available as 8x10 prints too, so check it out.

Stamp Details and A Fellow Kitty in Need of a Home

Howdy cats and kittens. Here is some more info on the NEW line of rubber stamps of yours truly that I posted about yesterday:
  • Prices are $13.80 per wood-mounted red rubber stamp
  • A 10% discount is available on full set of 4 stamps purchased from Guadalupe's Fun Rubber Stamps /Stampa Fe Art Stamps.
  • Be sure to request the discount as we're in the early days here!
  • Krissi will have some available for local sale, but not for a couple of weeks. If you're in a hurry, give Guadalupe's a call!
Word on the street is that the town of and visitors to Santa Fe are absolutely loving these images, and folks are starting to snap 'em up like a kitty with canned tuna. This news makes me one happy puss!

Thanks to all of YOU for your support and encouragement. I know that I'm only here because you like me (you really like me).

Some of you may have read about Chip and Allyson at Body Tribe - the gym where Krissi works out. What you may not know is that both Chip and Al are also mucisians, art lovers (and Al is an artist) and, above all else, animal lovers. Here's a video Chip posted of a kitty whose luck is turning around since Chip found him. If you think you might be able to improve it even more, drop them a line at chip[at]bodytribe[dot]com.

The First of the Stamps Are IN!

I just heard that the first of the rubber stamps featuring yours truly are AVAILABLE at Guadalupe's Fun Rubber Stamps in Santa Fe, NM (just off the plaza)!

I understand from Krissi, who received an e-mail from the owners today, that they have on hand three of the designs (with the fourth in production as we speak): skele-sirena (me as a mermaid), "Welcome Home" (me rubbing legs) and "Play Time" (skelekitten with a ball of yarn).
"Skele-sirena" rubber stamp AVAILABLE NOW! "Welcome Home" rubber stamp AVAILABLE NOW! "Play Time" rubber stamp AVAILABLE NOW!

For those of you who, like Krissi & myself, are not fortunate enough to live in Santa Fe, despair not! The Stampa Fe online catalog will be updated soon with these designs & prices for online ordering. In the meantime, you can contact Guadalupe's Fun Rubber Stamps directly by telephone at 877-982-9862 and order yourself up some stampage! Krissi is waiting to hear back on the pricing (we should have it tomorrow and will post it ASAP).

Of course, we'll also be sure to let all of our local friends know when we have them available in Sacramento. In the meantime, I'm trying to think up a good prize for folks who use these stamps in their art/crafts for trades, swaps, gifts, their walls, etc., so be sure to take lots of pics as you create! Maybe some Skelekitty bottlecap jewelry??

Skele-scritches,

SK

p.s. I also heard a rumor of a 10% discount for anyone who orders all four stamps through Stampa Fe/Guadalupe's Fun RS, so be sure to ask about it.

ANOTHER Stamp Update

StampaFe Art Stamps let me know today that they have the plates for the Skelekitty stamps in hand! They're working on a big wholesale order (sounds like their business is doing well!), so we're looking at about two weeks until y'all can order stamps! Of course, I will make an announcement right here as soon as they're available for order.

I'm all kitty-happy, 'cause StampaFe is really going all out by putting an ad in Rubber Stamp Madness magazine for the Nov/Dec/Jan issue:
Rubber Stamp Madness ad nov/dec/jan 08

as well as one in the Northern New Mexico Quilt Guild's "Quilt Fiesta" guide!
quiltguildnewsletter
The Quilt Fiesta is a biennial quilt show held in October on even numbered years in one of my (and Krissi's) favorite towns, Santa Fe, NM. This year's Quilt Fiesta theme is Tradition Transformed: The New Art of Quilting, which, if I do say so myself, fits in pretty well with what we have going on over here - given that the first time I showed up, I was on a quilt!

I think I'll go have myself a little catnip and relax in a sunbeam. Life is good.

Skele-rubs,

SK

Stamp Update!

We checked in with the very busy StampaFe Art Stamps last weekend and received an update on the rubber stamps. They're still on schedule to be in the store by Day of the Dead - probably in about 3 weeks!

I'll be sure to let everyone know through my blog when they're available for ordering. I'll also be getting some to sell to my "local" pals, but I'll only have a few.  The stamps are also available to be purchased by retailers wishing to carry the stamps in their shops.

More info as soon as it reaches my little kitty ears!

SK

It's For Keeps Now!

Well skeleboys and skelegirls, all the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed! That means that the four designs of little ol' me will be sent off to the engravers any day, and we'll have rubber skelestamps to play with soon.

For those of you who are fortunate enough to live in the Santa Fe area, you'll be able to drop in on Guadalupe's Fun Rubber Stamps this Fall for your Skelekitty stamps by StampaFe!

If you're actually near Santa Fe, you should wander up to this awesome little store RIGHT NOW and check out all of the non-Skelekitty goodness (of which there is much, like Our Lady of Rubber and more). The class list is pretty darned amazing too (I bet I would be lots of fun "helping" with those). They're just off the Plaza and up a flight. You have no excuses, really.

Of course, quite a few of us live outside of the Santa Fe, NM area (yours truly, included). Luckily for all of us, all of the stamps designed by StampaFe are available for secure online purchase here. The women of Our Lady and StampaFe are in the process of moving all of the ordering onto the interwebs, but it's not a Big Box Store operation (thankfully!), so only StampaFe designs can be put in your virtual shopping basket. HOWEVER, be not deterred! You can download pdf catalogs for Our Lady of Rubber (my personal favorite - lots of muertos!) and Willard Clark's Santa Fe/Southwest designs. They also have four pages of Kate Cartwright's stunning goddess stamps for your viewing pleasure. Write down what ya want and give the nice folks there a call to confirm prices and order whatever stamps your heard desires (psssst! They're really nice there).

I hope you are all doing well! Skelekitty rubs to you.

This Kitty LOVES Linky Love

Giving is great - don't get me wrong. Oh, but receiving linky love makes this kitty squeeze her eyes with sheer feline happiness!

In the middle of her Spread the Sparkle Tour to launch the new line of Crafty Chica (by Duncan) craft supplies, kits and products, Kathy Cano-Murillo posted about the line of Skelekitty stamps coming out this Fall! Thanks so very, Miss Kathy!

My mom finally finished writing part 1 of reviews on the goodies she brought home from Michael's - all sporting the Crafty Chica label (no catnip - what's she thinking?). If she doesn't get distracted with all the pretty glitters, I think the rest of the product review(s) should be up this week.

Well, it's kitty-nap-time.

I'm Kind Of A Big Deal

I am being immortalized in rubber stamps!

Special thanks to Lee Kellogg of Stampa Fe Rubber Stamps for taking me on! We met Lee at her AWESOME store, Guadalupe Rubber Stamps in Santa Fe, NM during a visit in May and she fell in love with me (how could you not?)

More special thanks to Kathy Murillo (aka The Crafty Chica) for convincing my Mom, Krissi, that she could actually do something like this and to Yoli Manzo (aka Sacred Snatch) for her undying support and willingness to listen.

Stay tuned for more information like contests, prices and the release date, which should be in early October!
